How is this different from tablets or brushing?
A toothbrush can't reach into the microscopic grooves where buildup hides — and toothpaste is abrasive, so brushing actually creates more of those grooves over time. Tablets only soak; there's nothing driving the cleaner down into the crevices. The Pod uses ultrasonic cleaning, which reaches every surface the water touches without anything physically contacting the retainer.
What can I clean in it?
Clear and Hawley retainers, clear aligners, night guards and mouth guards — one appliance per cycle.
Do I need the mint tablets?
The Pod works with plain tap water. The mint tablets are an optional add-on — many parents add them because they leave the appliance tasting fresh, which is what gets kids to actually wear it. They're sold separately.
